Free in-home hardness testing, plus well water lab testing and help with New Jersey's Private Well Testing Act.

Every estimate visit includes a free hardness test. It takes a few minutes, there's no obligation, and there's no sales pitch. We test the water at your tap, tell you how hard it is, and use that number to size a softener or decide whether you need one at all. To book, call or fill out the form on this page. A hardness test isn't a full water quality test. For bacteria, metals or PFAS, you need a certified lab.

New Jersey's Private Well Testing Act requires a well water test when a home with a private well is sold. The test must be done by a New Jersey certified lab, and the buyer and seller must both review the results before closing. The contract usually says which side orders it. Results take two to three weeks, so order the test six to eight weeks before closing. Lab fees typically run $1,000–$1,500. Landlords with a private well must test every five years and give the results to tenants.
The required panel covers more than 30 items, including bacteria, nitrate, iron, manganese, lead, arsenic, gross alpha, uranium, VOCs and PFAS. We're not a lab and can't perform the official test. Where we help is after it: if the results show a problem, we can recommend and install well water treatment.
