Water testing · Well water treatment

A PFAS water filter reduces "forever chemicals" like PFOA and PFOS. Two systems do it well: under-sink reverse osmosis for drinking and cooking water, and whole-house carbon or specialty media for every tap. Look for systems certified to reduce PFOA and PFOS. What PFAS filters don't do: they don't soften water, and carbon alone won't remove bacteria or nitrate. As planning estimates, an under-sink system runs $400–$1,200 and a whole-house system $3,000–$5,000. PFAS has been found in some private wells in the area, including parts of Hopewell Township, and eligible homeowners may get treatment costs covered by New Jersey's Spill Compensation Fund. Start with a lab test so the system matches what's in your water. See water testing and reverse osmosis.
