Under-sink reverse osmosis drinking water system

Reverse Osmosis System Installation & Service

Reverse osmosis is a drinking-water system, usually under the kitchen sink, with its own faucet. It is not a whole-house softener.

What RO does (and doesn't)

An RO membrane strips dissolved solids from the water you cook and drink with. RO will not soften every tap in the house. Scale on showers and the water heater still needs a softener or conditioner at the main. If you want both, our team can set them up as separate loops.

RO installation

Our team installs the tank, faucet, and drain saddle, and we replace prefilters and membranes on a schedule so the system does not idle on spent cartridges.

Already bought an RO system? We'll install it

Bought an under-sink reverse osmosis system online or at a store? We'll install it. Install-only is a flat fee, typically $200–$350 as a planning estimate, quoted before we start. It covers mounting the filters and tank, the feed and drain connections, the faucet, and a leak check. Send us the brand and model when you book. If your sink or countertop needs a new hole for the faucet, we'll tell you first, since drilling stone, or running a line to the fridge, costs extra.

Filter & membrane change plans

RO systems only work as well as their filters. Most prefilters need changing every 6 to 12 months, and the membrane every 2 to 3 years, depending on your water and use. A filter plan puts that on a schedule: we bring the right cartridges, change them, sanitize the system and check production and taste. You don't have to track dates or order parts. As planning estimates, a prefilter change runs $125–$225, $200–$350 with a new membrane, and an annual plan $150–$300.

RO repair

Most RO repairs run $150–$400 as a planning estimate. We work on most under-sink brands, including systems we didn't install.

FAQ

Can I install a reverse osmosis system myself?

Many handy homeowners do. It means tapping the cold line, adding a drain saddle, mounting the tank and often drilling a faucet hole. If you'd rather not, or your counter is stone, our install-only service covers systems you already bought.

Do I need a plumber to install reverse osmosis?

Not always. A standard under-sink install doesn't usually need major plumbing. It's worth hiring help if the drain is hard to reach, you need a new faucet hole in stone, or you want a line run to the fridge or ice maker.
